Kamen Rider W Trailer

Take a first look at Kamen Rider W which set to premiere on September 6th 2009 after Decade!!!

I don't have high hopes for this one tbh. Kamen Riders show has been quite poor (both design & storyline) lately. However the rider design is quite good in real look so I hope the storyline doesn't screw up & will impress me. Another reason to watch this show, 6th is my birthday LOL!

A trailer advertising the 1,000 yen promotional DVD has been officially added to YouTube. The Queen’s Blade: Gyokuza no Tsugumono TV anime is scheduled to premiere in October.

Thoughts: More boobies coming your way LOL!!! I watched Ikkitousen, Rosario To Vampire & Sekirei...How can I said no?

Announced Animes, OVA, Movies

Marvel Anime Series

Iron Man Teaser

Wolverine Teaser

ast August, Marvel Comics announced that Tokyo anime studio Madhouse would animate four TV anime series based on Marvel comics characters, including Iron Man and Wolverine. During this past weekend’s San Diego Comic Con, Marvel revealed the other two properties to be adapted: Blade and X-Men. The Wolverine TV series will be based on comic writer Chris Claremont’s 1982 take on the character that depicted Logan’s life in Japan. The Iron Man TV series will, at least partially, depict Tony Stark visiting Tokyo. The teaser trailers Madhouse produced for Iron Man & Wolverine are demonstration footage that will not be used in the TV anime productions.

Madhouse will also provide the animation for Marvel’s American Planet Hulk straight-to-video animated movie that will be released next year. Madhouse similarly animated Marvel’s two Hulk Vs. movies that were released domestically earlier this year.

Thoughts: Never thought they really make this. If the final outcome is as good as the teaser are showing, this will become a HIT! I heard some mixed reactions so far. Some said it's good (including me) while some said they make the characters looks too Asian compared to the original. Well, it's a Japanese thing, so we're prepared for it but as an anime fan, this is just cool if you compared it with the (marvel) cartoon series that we watched on TV few years back.

Upcoming Anime & Updates 2

Upcoming Animes, Movies & OVA

Gundam 00 OVA

*Will update once there's trailer*

Japan’s Bandai Visual will release the first of three Gundam OO Special Edition OVAs on October 27. The three 90 minute episodes will summarize the first season of the Mobile Suit Gundam OO television series, featuring a small amount of new, exclusive footage and partially re-recorded dialogue.

Development is still underway for a Gundam OO feature film to debut theatrically in Japan next year.

Thoughts: Would really like to see how the OVA's will turn out although I'm more anticipating the movie more...Neverthenless, this is a HUGE news for me!!!

Black Lagoon Third Series (OVA)

*Will update once there's trailer*

The August issue of Monthly Sunday GX magazine, which goes on sale in Japan on Saturday, will formally reveal that Madhouse’s third Black Lagoon anime will be an OVA series released next year. TV series director Sunao Katabuchi and character designer Masanori Shino will reteam for the new series.

Thoughts: This is probably the BEST news after the annoucement of DTB2 & Gundam 00 OVA's & Movie. The only downside would be they making it an OVA. Many fans would be hoping for a series or movie perhaps. Still, anything from BL is a winner!

CANAAN Movies

*Will update once there's trailer*

The official homepage for the current CANAAN anime television series has announced that the 13 episode series will be condensed into three theatrical motion pictures, the first of which will open in October.

Thoughts: Not watching CANAAN yet, but from what I heard, it's pretty good. I'm hoping the BEST from the movie since I'm gonna start the series soon.

Announced Animes, OVA, Movies

Garo: Red Requiem

*Will update once there's trailer*

Tohokushinsha Film Corporation subsidiary company Omnibus Japan has formally announced the development of Garo: Red Requiem, a digital 3D feature film installment of Tohokushinsha’s 2005 late night live-action hero show Garo. The original special-effects laden program was created and directed by Keita Amemiya (Zeiram), who will return to direct the feature film. Veteran stunt coordinator and Cutie Honey the Live series director Makoto Yokoyama will provide action choreography. The Garo movie is scheduled for release next year.

The popular Garo TV series had a successful 25 episode run, a side-story episode, and a two-episode TV special sequel.

Thoughts: Whoohoo! I bet this is gonna make many fans goes WOW including me. I really have nothing to said right now since I'm too happy. This is just sweet! Anyway, for those who haven't watch Garo yet, I suggest you give it a try since it's one of the most successful series ever unless you're not into those henshin stuff.

Hakuoki Shinsengumi Kitan

*Will update once there's trailer*

During this past Sunday’s Otomate Party 2009 publicity event in Tokyo, video game publisher Idea Factory revealed that an anime adaptation of its 2008 PlayStation 2 game Hakuoki Shinsengumi Kitan is now in development. The game is a “reverse harem” historical adventure game that involves a female protagonist interacting with the handsome young swordsmen of the Shinsengumi.

Thoughts: Didn't play the game. One girl (protagonist) & many guys? Not my type really since I'm a guy & hoping for girls haha! Definitely a show for the ladies...But if the storyline & action is good, I don't mind really, & from the way it look, it doesn't look too bad...that's why I decided to blog it.

Goulart Knights

*Will update once there's trailer*

Bandai Visual’s music label Lantis has launched a website to announce its development of the original anime series Goulart Knights. Lantis has produced anime adaptations of manga, including Haibane Renmei, Hatsukoi Limited, and Angel Sanctuary, but Goulart Knights will be the company’s first original anime. The website credits manga artist Takumi Miyajima (Neppu Kairiku Bushilord: The Rising) with developing the concept of a team of four bishonen with the ability to use “Chalice,” the source of humanity, to defend the earth from mysterious creatures known as “Archons.”

A one-shot Goulart Knights manga story appears in the current August issue of Animedia Magazine. A free original Goulart Kishidan: Homunculus Soudou (Goulart Knights: Homunculus Strife drama CD will be distributed at Comic Market 76 next month. A launch date for the anime hasn’t been determined yet.

Thoughts: Again, many boys, this time with all the main characters. Don't know if I will watch it. At the time being it had my interest.

Halo Legends (Animated)

The Los Angeles Times’ blog reports that Japanese anime production studios BONES, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G, Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation have been commissioned by Microsoft to produce an animated anthology film titled Halo Legends. Appleseed movie director Shinji Aramaki will serve as the film’s creative director and direct one of the film’s stories. Microsoft’s 343 Industries, the department in charge of the Halo shooting game franchise, is giving the anime studios free reign over the visual appearance of the animation, but, according to 343 Industries’ creative director Frank O’Connor, “Depending on the studio, we did everything from writing the stories to feeding them with characters and scenarios they could explore.”

A preview trailer will be screened at this weekend’s San Diego Comic Con. The shorts will then be released on the Xbox Live service this fall, followed by DVD & Blu-ray from Warner Bros. early next year.

Thoughts: Perhaps the most surprising news for anime so far. As much as I hope for a movie release, I never thought they're going to animated it. Probably some mixed reaction from the fans, I think most of us will rather it comes out with a movie like FFAC: Complete like graphic. Me too, since Halo is too good not to adopt to a movie with kick@ss graphic but it's rather to interesting to see how this animated version of HALO will turns out to be?

Looks like end of 2009 & 2010 bring us lotsa good shows...xD!!!

Upcoming Anime & Updates

Upcoming Animes

Tatakau Shisho

Will premiere on October 2nd.

Thoughts: No additional info thou, but from the trailer, it looks very promising. Probably will watch it.

Darker Than Black 2
Will update once there's trailer.

Finally the wait is over!!!
Will premiere in October. The exact date is TBA thou. A little info on this one, Promotional images have surfaced revealing “Suou Pavlichenko,” the 13-year-old half-Japanese half-Russian girl protagonist of Darker Than Black 2.

Thoughts: Definately on my watch list since the 1st one was so good!

Scared Blacksmith

The story takes place after an abominable war that foisted a "devil's contract" upon a land. Cecily Campbell, a former noble's daughter who joined a knighthood, encounters a man who dispatches some hoodlums with one sweep of a mysterious sword. The man possesses the power of the same "devil's contract" that has become taboo, now that peace has been restored. Cecily has been searching for a blacksmith who can repair an old sword she inherited from her father, and that mysterious young man happens to be blacksmith named Luke Ainsworth. This encounter launches their adventures together. Premiere this Fall.

Thoughts: Mitchiko To Hatchin catch my interest & this one is from the same company. Swords & Girls...Hmm...I know I'm not gonna to miss it!

Announced Animes, OVA, Movies

Break Blade
The Break Blade story revolves around Rygart Arrow, a young man whose ability to pilot an ancient, powerful robot makes him the pivitol point in a war in which he has personal friends on both sides of the conflict.

Thoughts: Based on the story, it sounds like Code Geass & Gundam 00. War, Mechas, Politics maybe...but I don't put on a high expectation since those 2 were so great. Anyway, this is interesting since war & mecha, just my cup of tea.

Macross F 1st & 2nd Movie

The official Japanese Macross Frontier homepage has announced a second, previously unexpected Macross F feature film. The first film, Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress, will open on November 21. The first movie will be a condensed version of the 2008 TV series featuring some exclusive new footage. The second film will be a new story, presumably consisting of entirely new animation. No specific details about the second film have been revealed yet.

Thoughts: Should I say more? I would be kicking myself if I miss it!

That's all for now. I knew there's some others too but since I don't have that much interest & more importantly, time itself to update, so I'll just start with my favs or the one that looks promising enough to me.

Code Geass thoughts

No, this is not a review but more of my own thoughts of Code Geass (both seasons). I finished re-watched both seasons this week. I don't know why I did but the only reason is probably this anime is just too good. Okay, there's been too many discussions of this anime everywhere else especially the ending, sequel, & most importantly, Lelouch himself.

I'm gonna get into 4 things in this post...

1) Ending
2) Lelouch - Hero or Villain?
3) Lelouch - Dead or Alive?
4) Sequel

Ending
Let us start with the ending shall we? If you're wondering, yes I mean the ending of R2 a.k.a season 2. As much people liked the ending, I'm reading negative comments about it too. If you ask me, I'm gonna said I'm with the 'good ending' side. Why? I mean, there's no way Lelouch could be forgiven after all the things he did even some he didn't mean it, some was good & some was purely evil. He's a man that will put everything on his shoulder & should anyone to attone the sins, himself will do. Afterall, he could not face Suzaku & Nunnally (two most important things in his life) even he unite the world for all the things he done...Also, his main objective already achive which is revenge his mother (by killing V.V.) & create a world where Nunally can happily lives in (destroy Britannia & unite the world). No matter how you look at it, the ending was epic neverthenless. Zero killed Lelouch & so, the symbol of Zero lives on.

Lelouch - Hero or Villain?
This one is tough. Is a matter of how you look at it. He's a hero among Japanese but a villain among Britanians. If he did not take the 1st step to rebel, the world will probably still united but under the control of Britanians but less people will die (I assume) but more will suffer. I probably agree with "You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty." A view from the neutral, do you think Britanians makes a good government (minus the world Charles trying to create) or rebel is not worth it even it succeed in the end (but many bloods will be shed)? You decide.

Lelouch - Dead or Alive?
Man, this is one of the reason I like & hate Code Geass at the same time. It makes my brain works a lot. Some said Lelouch is immortal by the time Suzaku killed him. Some said Lelouch is the horseman with C.C. in the end. (only make sense if he's immortal). For me, the most decisive point would be Jeremiah. He's loyal to Lelouch. It's either he knew that 'guy' is not Lelouch or probably immortal or he respect his master decision in order make the plan works out. My take would be, Lelouch is dead for real since he has to kill C.C. in order to become immortal. As much as I like Lelouch to be alive, unfortunately, there's no point for him to be except one.....continue reading shall ya?

Sequel
Majority likes epic anime & hope it'll go on forever. I'm no difference. Will there be a sequel? I will not lie, I'm going to do anything I able to make it happen ONLY for some reason. Anime will be spoiled if they were dragging too long. Just look at Naruto, Bleach, One Piece (no offense to any of the fans) & etc...They will be good moments, but as the story goes on, viewer will get bored, hence filler coming in. Tell me, what they will put in if there's a sequel? Another invasion? Or perhaps rebellion? Scheinzel wake up from Geass, since Lelouch is dead (this one is possible I tell you, if they really decided to make a sequel).

The 50 long episode consists of both seasons ends very well imo. It leaves a beautiful memory to the audience. Fans gone begging for a third season is just because they want to confirm Lelouch is Dead or not & another reason would be, they want this anime to continue. As I hope that Sunrise will explain things to us, a sequel is not necessary but I will support for a OVA or Movie instead. It should be sufficient to satisfy & end fans doubts bout Lelouch (if they decided to conclude about him) & end the series in a more beautiful way.

If you have any disagreeement or thought like to share, welcome to post. I'm more happy to discuss more about this series since it's definately an interesting one.

Top 10 Asian Poses (Female)

You must've seen this very often if you're a fan of Friendster, Facebook or that kind of things...The thing is, we usually seen Asian doing this...a trend or phenomena? I'm not a fan of this "cute" pose really. It's ok to do this once in a while but I really can't stand girls overdoing it.

Another eyecandy pics for you guys...

StormTroopers Video

Very nice video (nice songs too)...Enjoy!!!

Malaysia (Finally...) Boleh!!!

An article by Wisefreeman.
Cyber Fusion 2009!

Gamers in Malaysia, successfully broke the Guinness World Records & set a new world record for the world longest & largest LAN party with the total number of 274 surviving gamers
over the long chilling 40hours at Multimedia University Grand Hall in Cyber Jaya, Malaysia.

Initially it was set at 38hours only, but due to the mass demand from the participants, the record was set
higher at 40hours. We started off with 300 people & later some people drop off because breaking
simple rules. Guinness World Records' Rules & Regulations are very strict, no participant are allow to sleep during the challenge or continuously do anything that are not related to gaming (web surfing, IM etc...). Those who get caught will be given a warning & will be disqualify if get caught again. The marshals in the hall prevent us from falling asleep by slapping our head with big harisen......

Just jesting, LOL! They just shake us up to wake us.

For participants who survived the whole 40hours period will each get AMD Phenom or Athlon Processor, certificate of participation & a backpack.
Participants was also given the chance to win ATI graphic cards & some original games via lucky draws around the clock:

The low temperature in the grand hall make us very hard to resist not to fall into hibernation ^^; I'm wearing 3 shirts (2 was given in the goodies bag) & a jacket + hand glove but it's still very very cold......
Apart from the freezing temperature in the hall, after 4hours of gaming my Vista Ultimate 64bit OS started to "freeze" too, the system error message Event ID:10 which is a known system fault in all Vista version that will cause PC to freeze. It totally hang up my laptop & I have to hard restart it everytime it freeze while running game, yesterday was perfectly fine.

Due to this unfortunate issue, I can't play any graphic intensive games on my laptop....... The rule stated that participants are allowed to play any sort of games (physical card game excluded), so I resort to playing only this internet flash game called Gundam Fighter for the remaining 30hours...... orz
But luckily my comrades over at The Figure Mall (have a look at their table & rig full of figure) have bunch of Japanese games like Crucis Fatal Fake, Magical Battle Arena & Touhou to keep me entertain throughout the remaining long & freezing hours. Other than playing games, it just seem too normal, so I watch anime & play game both at the same time, some retro gamers even play 8bit Mario & 8bit DOOM......

During the record breaking challenge, I'd only consumed 1 liter of H2O, 6 cans of Red Bull & 4 regular size pizza. Throughout the 40hours gaming marathon, each participants are given 5minutes of break per hour, but I had only used up 6 minutes of my 190 minutes (3:16hours) for toilet break & buying meals, 12minutes for solar charging.
I did dozed off a few times unconsciously. For participants that managed to get a moment of silent, they are using this ninja technic, acting like you're playing game with your hand on the keyboard, as for those who obviously sleep like this, will get a harisen slap on their head ^^;

Overall, the experience of gaming in the hall feels like you're inside a big cyber cafe with disco + some sexy ladies giving out Red Bull, the music was played out loud & the laser lighting was showering through out the hall.

When I first heard about this event, I knew I had to secure this
opportunity & be part of it, so I'd committed & taken 5days off my
business to participant in this epic world record breaking event &
I have to make sure I remain in the challenge & not drop out halfway through.
No Words can simply describe my experiences in this epic event.

Last but not least, Thank You Very Much to DC Comrades who sent me all the
supportive messages ^_^ & Kagami which accompanied me throughout the event,
without you all I wouldn't had make it, cheers!

Alright, I'd been awake for the past 60hours+, it's time for me to hibernate
& recharge my biocell~~~

Blassreiter (Review)

Plot Summary: Faced with an outbreak of demonic blood, which transforms humans into insane and hideous creatures bent on violence and death, only one man can stand against the tide of destruction. Joseph Jobson, the only man able to control his cursed demonic form, must hunt down the man who cursed him and save the world from apocalypse.

Just finished up this anime lately. Yeah, I was late ><". Okay this is an anime from GONZO & ppl seems to be hate them for making bad anime's. This anime is different thou. I'd said this is a gem in the rock. I did not put a high hope on this anime at the beginning but I give it a try & it suprise me. It start off really slow in the 1st few episodes, but starting to pick up near the middle. For those who concern, this is a really emo anime. I mean, all the main characters were dead near the middle. Yep, lotsa blood, dead & gore...so if you're not a fan of this, you may dislike this anime. The storyline, character design & the 3D effect were all nicely done as well. What I really like bout this anime is it's full of suprise & the plot's really twisting! The most important is the ending. It was very nice indeed! I believe nowdays anime director are facing problem how to end a series after a successful run for number of episodes hence the very bad ending which I've seen in quite a few anime lately. No doubt that this is the most underrated & suprising anime of the year 2008. For those who still have doubts about this anime, go & watch it & you'll not be dissapointed. This one may not in the same league as Gundam 00 or Code Geass, but still one of the best (action) anime of the year. Based on the ending, I think or at least hope for a 2nd season, OVA or something like that in the future.

Score
: 3.5/5 There's still room for improvement especially the unexplainable things in the anime.

Good IP?

We all knew that Streamyx is so f**ked up but sometimes you do get above average speed. How do I get good connection for online gaming & downloads? It's the IP. As far as we know, we streamyx (home) user will get a random IP whenever we switch on our modem / router. If you get an fucked up IP, don't expect your connection will be fast. I'll briefly go through each IP address with you guys here.

I've been a streamyx user for few years already & I know which IP serves me well & which's not. Up to date, we'll basically getting randomly 4 set of IP address whenever we connect to the internet. It's 60.xxx.xx.xxx, 124.xxx.xx.xxx, 115.xxx.xx.xxx, & 118.xxx.xx.xxx. 218 used to be a very powerful IP but I'm not going into that since it's history already.

60 IP
- This is one fucked up IP. Whenever I see this I'll restart my router. This IP doesn't do any good whether for dowload, online gaming or surfing net alone. My RO bots die lotsa time because of this IP & my downloads takes forever to complete. It's basically not moving at all. However, this IP is getting better lately, especially at nite. Good for browsing, but still sucks at downloading & online gaming. & I also keep getting 60 past 12 midnite....argh!

124 IP
- This is one moderate IP. Basically good for everything but not just good enough for me. Works well during morning ~ afternoon but kind sucks at nite time for time being.

115 IP
- I can say this one is slightly better than 124 & far or less the same. I will classified this as a fast IP & if you get this, you're ready for a smooth surfing in the internet world.

118 IP
- The BEST out of 4. Very fast for everything. No matter day or night this IP rulez! 1 thing thou, recently I found out tat 118.101.xx.xxx is operating as normal but 118.100.xx.xxx is so so only...sometimes even worse than 124 or 115. What the hell?

This post is based on my experience with all the IP's used by be, in my area. So other area may be differ. I even heard ppl saying that 60 works well for them but 118 sucks. Before this SHIT happend, 118, 115, 124 all is the BEST IP while 60 sucks no matter what. Even now it stays the same but with a lil difference:

118
- 118.101 only works well for me now. 118.100 is kinda slow...I don't know why..

115 & 124
- They used to be in the same league as 118 but not anymore, especially at night, they lose out t0 60 in terms of web browsing. I still will use both IP's in the day thou.

60
- You'll keep getting this after 12 midnite but worry not, it works like a charm during midnite.

What is good (& bad) fansub to you?

I always wonder what is consider a good fansub? I've been to various forum & so. Seems like many ppl demand an almost perfect (99.9% accurate) subbing to consider as a good sub. For me, it's simple. I just demand a sub that I can understand. Simple & straight to the point doesn't matter as long as it doesn't run out of what the original meaning mean. For example, the so-called one of the worst fansub out there, Chihiro sub's fine for me too. I just don't understand why those ppl bash them like nobody business. They're (Chihiro) famous for speed-sub & that doesn't mean their sub is bad. Although I've to admit they're maybe no better than some fansub group out there, but at least it's understandable & I can promise that their sub is sometimes better than the so-called original DVD sub.

Tbh, I've yet to see a VERY worst fansub in my life so far but many bad sub in "so-called original DVD" which's selling in Malaysia. The subs is just unacceptable. I really can't understand what the f**k they're trying to said. I feel like throwing the DVD's away when I saw that =.=" According to my friend, there's 2 type of DVD. One is Local-Original (crappy sub + cut scenes) & another is Imported-Original (very good sub + uncut) but of course the price also different besides the quality.

So, now I rarely go & buy original anime DVD already since the original is not original & imported one is too expensive for me. I'll stick to fansub for the time being & only will buy Imported-DVD if I really like the series & have lotsa extra money ^^. & pls don't hate fansub, (whether they're doing a good or bad job) coz they're doing it for FREE!!!

Streamyx Down (yet again...not really)

It's been already 2 days since I suffer from not-so-fast connection...Well, this might not a big deal for some, or most ppl out there since we can still blogging, msn & stuff's like that but it definately deals a big blow for me.

Not really down by any means but Service Interruption. You can read more HERE. For a heavy downloader like me, this is more than enough for me to cursed. I usually get around 150kb/sec while Thundering & about the same speed for Direct Downloading if I gets the good IP, but not anymore. Now my DLL (Direct Download) goes around 80kb/sec the most & once in a while only hits 100kb/sec while Thundering is a waste of time & effort (few KB/sec).

I'm more & more used to this kind of shit already. One year sure got few times. I don't care accident or what but why every year oso like this?

Got many ppl recommended me to use W1MAX & Celcom but no thanks coz I really can't stand their limited bandwidth useage. If I want to upgrade my line, I might as well get the 2MB line from Streamyx. 1MB line is very good for now & 2MB would be awesome. At least Streamyx is unlimited.

Ipoh Toy Shop Review (UPDATED)

Been wanting to do this a while ago. So we have lotsa toy shop review locally & overseas. How bout some small town toy shop? While these shop may not known by most, it certainly have their own potential. Take note that this is my very own opinion & experience.

1) Kiroro (3rd Floor of Ipoh Parade)

Website: http://www.kirorohobby.com

This is the shop I usually gets my Gunpla & accs. Can't say I'm the regular customer since I only buy from them occassionally but definately the toy shop that I buy the most goods from. The owner is very skillful in Gunplas, painting, & pimping them. Won quite a few awards too.

Variety:
Selling mostly Gunplas & plastic model kits. Also selling many revoltechs & figmas also. Other than that, they also got bring in 12" figure from HT & Medicom too. Weak point is, lack of PVC's. They do have bring in some & take PO (order for you) thou even not bringing in but not guarantee can PO lol. Overall, for a toy shop located in Ipoh, this shop offer quite a lot of variety.

Price:
If you're talking bout Gunpla, then it's moderate. More or less, the same with other stores even in KL, except one so I say quite competitive prices. As for 12" they're more expensive. I would PO with them if their price is cheaper but I prefer to get in KL when it comes to 12". As for revoltech & figma, it's pretty much the same. Also, on the gunpla or plastic kits price, they pretty much follows market price but "some" kits a bit on the high side for like 15 to 20 bucks more compared to some shop in KL. Although you can say after we put in the shipping cost from KL to Ipoh is pretty much the same, but then, ppl in KL can bought their kits cheaper than me in Ipoh, pretty ironic rite?

Customer Service:
The boss himself is actually quite friendly but when he doesn't talk, he looks very cool. Also helping him is his bro I believe & also his (boss) woman. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it since they answer my question from SMS in an instant LOL.

Overall:
Recommended if you want to get your Gunpla dose. This is the place for you! Also, I believe this is a shop to pay a visit if you're a toy collector. Gundam fans don't wanna miss this shop. One thing they need to improve is pricing really. I mean, Gunpla is not like PVC or 12", quite limited, so that you can sell it for 20 or 30 bucks more. Gunpla is kinda overflowing in the market especially 1/100 & HG 1/144. So, if one kit I saved RM10, I can get another 1/100 when I bought 10. I don't mind to wait. I just want to get my toys at a cheapest price possible. To be fair, Kiroro has the potential to survive or even grow bigger in the Ipoh Market since I really think their price is quite good among Ipoh stores but if they to break into outstation market, they have to be more competetive in prices. I just bought a 1/100 Exia from them for RM100, & yeah, it was the cheapest in Ipoh but KL available for RM85. So you can see the difference. I didn't say they're (Kiroro) expensive but their price is good enough for Ipoh alone but certainly not Malaysia.

2) I-CUBE (?) (3rd Floor of Yik Foong Plaza)

A new shop located inside Yik Foong. I don't think the name of the shop is I-CUBE thou since the shop previously rent for clothing shop. Quite isolated. Normally ppl won't go there. Suprisingly enough, there's a gem inside a rock! This shop is small, but guess what, this shop sells S.I.C, Playarts, Figma's, Revoltech's, 12" Figures, Gunpla, PVC's (not much but rare) & some really rare stuff such as MG Sazabi Metallic Coating Ver, PG Wing Zero Custom & MG Unicorn Gattling Gun @_@. I didn't ask for price thou.

Variety:
As I already said, this shop sell a wide range of product. Even's not many but definately rare. More variety than Kiroro but seems like all is in limited quantity except plastic kits. Can't blame them thou since Ipoh market is rather small.

Price:
Didn't atrract me. They're selling MG Sinanju for RM300+ & my 1st impression was, @_@~!!! I don't know the price for other products thou since I don't bother to ask when I saw the price of Sinanju. Most of their item didn't have a price tag either.

Customer Service:
Don't know. They never served me. I went there few times already but window shopping only.

Overall:
If you want to hunt for some rare items, this might be the place for you. You might found some suprise here but price not guaranteed thou.

3) -INSERT SHOP NAME- (2nd Floor of Yik Foong Plaza)

LOL, another "no shop name". I never bought anything from there but mah friend did. What can I say bout this shop? Hmm..they sell PC Games, PS2 & XBOX (360) Games & Software. Also, they sell quite a number of toys too mainly Gunpla & S.I.C & some PVC's.

Variety:
Mostly S.I.C & Gunpla. Also, the only shop that selling many Neca & McFarlane figures, from very old to new. Same goes to Gunpla. I can even see Infinite Justice there :P

Price:
I think I will buy something from them soon, probably S.I.C or some gunpla that I missed. Not cheap as chips but not expensive either. Market price I'd say.

Customer Service:
Don't know either but the boss looks so arrogant.

Overall:
A good hunting ground for S.I.C fans since they always brings in new released S.I.C. Price is reasonable too. The only shop so far that has a wide selection for S.I.C. As for gunpla fans, this shop could pull out a suprise too, who knows?

4) Revolution (The new shoplot in front of Tesco, opposite JPJ)

Website: http://www.therevolutiontoys.blogspot.com (it's a blog thou)

I paid a visit there last week & my first impression was, "WOW". The interior design of the shop is very nice & I really like the feel inside the shop. Small yet spacious.

Variety:
The strong point of this shop seems to be a lil difference than other. It's Transformers stuffs. Yeah, they've like Henkei series, Animated & also Masterpiece. Besides that, they also have a healthy amount of Gunplas. The variety almost same with Kiroro but they excel in Transformers & also Star Wars stuffs (lotsa them also). They do take order for 12" figure also which is a plus. Again, my only complaint was they don't do PVC's.

Price:
Bought a 1/100 Dynames there. RM109.90. A bit on the high side I say. Also, they're selling HG 1/144 00 Raiser for RM90+. No idea why so expensive. Kiroro only selling it for RM87.90. Got 10% discount sommore, means RM79. Not really paying attention to other prices but on the good side, they're still accepting PO for MP Grimlock & the price is RM430+. What a deal! I bet they must be having some good relationship with transformers supplier. Haha.

Customer Service:
Very good I've to say. Although they're trying to sell me their products, still I'm happy with it.

Overall:
Transformers, 12", Gunpla, Star Wars, & Revoltechs...thumbs up for it's variety but the price still needs a little fix not only to atrract customers outside Ipoh but also within Ipoh. In terms of pricing, they still lose to Kiroro by a bit especially for Gunpla. Maybe they make up for that by selling cheap Transformers thou. Still, a pretty well balanced store for me, be sure to visit it when you're in Ipoh.

Summary
Okay, 4 shop being reviewed & I noticed that none of the above stores specialize in selling PVC's (one of the hottest toy category imo). Maybe that's not a concern for you. Maybe the PVC market for Ipoh is too small...too many "maybe"s. Also the price never beat ANY (that I know of) toy shop in KL let it be Kiroro, who specialize in kits. The maybe factor come again, not ordering enough quantity to secure a better discount? Who knows? Okay, you might argue the rent for Kiroro & Revolution's expensive, but since when KL rent & salary become cheap? Also, the so-called "I-CUBE" shop located in Yik Foong but still sells expensive stuff. I think this is an issue that all toy boss in Ipoh have to take a look into. My mom always said, Ipoh what also expensive but salary never "expensive". I really agree on this one, not only toys but even a plate of economy rice is expensive.

In terms of variety, I understand they can't just bring in anything since they need to meet the demand but I really hope they can start bringing in PVC's, PlayArts, S.I.C & some Neca / McFlarane action figures as well coz all of them is quite popular nowdays. Lastly, pricing that does matter. Believe it or not, I'm buying more from oversea stores like PlayAsia or even stores in KL more than in Ipoh due to they lack of choices & also the not so atrractive so-called pre-order price. I believe the pricing can be better, don't be so greedy..hahaha!

Well, that's all for now. Yeah, that's only 4 toy shop so far in Ipoh so you all know how desperate for collector like me. I mean we can get daily dose of toys from the internet but the feel it's different if you can actually go & visit a toy shop. Unfortunately, only 4 for me to visit & fortunately enough, less poison! xD

Hobby or Addiction?

I don't know how many of you is Otaku or Toys Collector here but I'm one of them. So when I came across with this article, I decided to blog it. Very interesting indeed.

Original Article:
A question that came up on the TFwire forums recently & is very applicable to any hobby. Do you consider your figure collecting (or anything else for that matter) a hobby or addiction? There is a very fine line between the two.

- Do you find yourself buying unnecessarily just to get a 'figure mix' when you haven't bought anything for awhile?

- How often do you spend money on figures?

- When you see a Limited Edition figure, do you get a tight feeling in your chest and a voice in your head say 'BUY IT!'

All these questions and some others come to mind. For that matter, how much have you spent on our figure collecting?

Question 1
It's kind of mix of both. I don't go & buy unnecessary toys even if I don't spend for quite a while. I only buy what I like, but if really I get very bored or in the mood of buying, I'll usually get myself a Gunpla to assemble. Of course the one that I like. Can kill time & it's pretty cheap anyway.

Question 2
Can't really tell since I only buy what I like. I can spend up to RM1000 a month & can go another few months spending less than RM200. It really depends on what coming out in the next few months & also my budget.

Question 3
This one is easy, my answer is NO. Again, I buy what me like. I don't usually go & hunt Limited Edition stuff's, but if my figure gets a run of LE, I'll compare what's the major difference between the two, if the difference is little, then no way I'm getting the LE.

Question 4
I did not count but it's certainly not less.

But what's bugging me was the Otaku Rule Number One. I did missed out on some figures last year & the 'A' always seen by me whenever I online & 'B' always prevented me from getting it & hence, 'C' is finally here. I could still call the hobby of mine a hobby (for now) but I'm afraid it'll slowly converting into addiction an issue afraid by most of brothers & sisters out there.

Have your own view on this matter (various hobby)? Have your say here!

Death to all Lovers Club

Recently found this while surfing the net...

Original article:
As couples get lovey-dovey on Valentine’s Day today
(or tomorrow depending on where you are),
a different group of people will be on the streets destroying the romantic
atmosphere of lovers on this very day.

Known as 情侶去死去死团 literally translated as
“Death to all lovers” club, it started out in Taiwan in 2005 by the local netizens
as a platform for single and lonely otaku/nerds without girlfriends to oppose
the overly commercialised celebration methods and supposedly
happy/affectionate mood on Valentine Day and Christmas Eve.

The full article can be found HERE

Questions:
Would you go that far (assuming you're still single by then)
if there's such a club in your region?
I would certainly join for fun if only I have nothing better to do.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!!!

How are you going to spent this year Valentine? With Loved Ones? Having single's party with friends? Or Self?

I'm trying (not very hard thou) to invite some of my (singles) friends for a dinner or perhaps a drink later on since I used to go out almost every weekend so this year valentine makes no difference since I already been single for a long time LOL. Just in case my friends are busy, I'm gonna spent it with plastics (PVC, Gunpla & other toys)...sounds so desperate huh? I'm so ronery LOL...

Again, I wish everyone in the world have a very happy valentines!!!

Death of Democracy in Perak

Yeah, I know I'm a bit late but better than nothing.

I bet not only Perak-ians, but the whole Malaysia knew about what happend in Perak recently.

So, please wear black on 10/02/2009 in order to show that democracy is dead in Perak & it's the only thing that we as the ppl (or supporter) of Perak can do for PR (Pakatan Rakyat).

I'm not a supporter for either side really but I only support what's right & against what's wrong. Still can't decide? Take a look HERE & then...

A by-election or bye-election (called special election in the United States) is an held to fill a political office that has become vacant between regularly-scheduled elections. Usually this occurs when the incumbent has died or election resigned, but it may also occur when the incumbent becomes ineligible to continue in office, for example because of a recall or a sufficiently serious criminal conviction. Historically, members of some parliaments were required to seek re-election upon being appointed to a ministerial post. The subsequent by-elections were termed ministerial by-elections.

Taken from Wikipedia.

PR have no problem with a by-election, as well as the ppl of Perak but why not BN & Sultan? We, the ppl of Perak choose our own state government last year, so let us decide again! Fair enough rite? Hello, what means by General Election? We, ppl of Malaysia (Perak) decide the result, not Sultan alone k?

Should you wear black now?

Year End Review (Movies)

As 2008 already ended, we take a look back on what appear to be the BEST & WORST in 2008. I'll start with movies first. Big guns like The Dark Knight & Wall-E surely deserve a place but don't forget the strong candidates such as Iron Man & Cloverfield. Okay, I'm not gonna to give each & everyone of em a spot but I'll pick my TOP 5 instead in no particular order.

Top 5 BEST Movie in 2008

1) The Dark Knight
This is one of the best film I've seen in 2008. While I'm not really a fan of Batman, this one really converted me into one, at least a fan of The Dark Knight. This film is really extraordinary, I really like how the story progress as Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent) slowly walking down the road of darkness. Christian Bale plays Batman a.k.a Dark Knight, nothing much expected from him since his role is pretty general. Heath Ledger performance as the Joker is the highlight of the show & because of him, this movie has gone from good to best. People keeps on discussing about actor performance in TDK but what truly make this movie a gem was the plot & storyline.

Make it simple, Batman is the good side, Joker's a bad@ss, Harvey Dent is Gotham City, which side will Harvey Dent choose? So, you see, the main point is not about Batman or Joker, it's more to Harvey Dent. Any decision from him will reflect greatly to the outcome of the whole story. Have not seen TDK? Get a DVD or Blu-Ray disc. You won't be dissapointed! Highly Recommended.

2) Cloverfield
Something special for everyone. When I saw the trailer, I thought this is gonna to be another Godzilla movie. Indeed it is, but it's a 3rd person shooting style, like you playing Counter Strike. When most of the people don't give a shit bout this movie, I found it to be pretty awesome. I watched this in a cinema, inside 30 minutes or so, I seen people going in & out, maybe they feel dizzy.

I've to say the plot for this is weak. Monsters coming out of nowhere, engaging with militaries, but this movie does have a few good points. It make us audience to feel what it likes to be inside the movie ourself. Also, this movie has many unpredictable things as well as the ending. It's a + for me. While I quite like this movie, I won't recommended it to everyone since not many can watch & enjoy this one. Watch it if you're looking for something different. I promise this won't be dissapointing.

3) Iron Man
When it comes to Marvel Movies, it rarely dissapointed. Iron Man really offer us something special since this is a unique super hero movies of all time. I liked how they "make" Tony Stark into an Iron Man. Tony Stark did not built the suit on purpose, he built it so he can escape from the terrorist. A good way to introduce Iron Man to the audience.

Another good point bout this movie is the final showdown between Iron Man & Iron Monger. The fight scene was beautifully done as Iron Man was overpowered by Iron Monger (twice the size of Iron Man) & sometimes you don't need strength to win, all you need is make use of your own brain. A very good super hero movie indeed. Recommended.

4) Wall-E
I seldom watch animated films but I decided to give this a try after all the good reviews I heard. I'm glad I did. This is one awesome movie despite from a almost no dialog film. The animation & graphic was beautifully done & the storyline's top notch.

This one has quite a lot of humor & touching moments. Also, this one is a good educational film. You'll not want to miss this! Highly Recommended!

5) Kung Fu Panda
Another animated film top the list. This one doesn't score as good as TDK & Wall-E but it excels in humor, action scenes & voice actors / actress such as Jack Black & Angelina Jolie.

Kung Fu + Good Animation + Lotsa Humor + Great Fight Scenes

What more could you ask for?

Kung Fu Panda is whole lot better than any other action or comedy-based film in 2008.

Highly Recommended!!! Especially if you have kids!!!

Most Suprising Movie:
I never expected Wall-E to be so great judging from it's trailer. I almost missed a gem for not watching it. Judging from 1st look, most of us will thought, "not another funny animation movie" but it offers a lot more than that.

So folks, if you really haven't watch it, go & get a DVD. It's well worth your money. Also, if you're not watching Wall-E, you're missing something.

Most Dissapointed Movie:

If you read my reviews bout The Spirit earlier, I'm very dissapointed with this movie. I've high expactations after 300, Sin City & Wanted so I thought this movie gonna end the year with a BANG but sadly, it doesn't.

Actually this movie has potential to be one of the best in 2008, but it just need better plot, maybe screen writer, I don't know. Not recommended for those who haven't watch it, save your money instead.

That's all for now & 2008 Anime Review is coming your way as well as Upcoming Movie list...stay tuned!
