Year End Review (Movies)

As 2008 already ended, we take a look back on what appear to be the BEST & WORST in 2008. I'll start with movies first. Big guns like The Dark Knight & Wall-E surely deserve a place but don't forget the strong candidates such as Iron Man & Cloverfield. Okay, I'm not gonna to give each & everyone of em a spot but I'll pick my TOP 5 instead in no particular order.

Top 5 BEST Movie in 2008

1) The Dark Knight
This is one of the best film I've seen in 2008. While I'm not really a fan of Batman, this one really converted me into one, at least a fan of The Dark Knight. This film is really extraordinary, I really like how the story progress as Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent) slowly walking down the road of darkness. Christian Bale plays Batman a.k.a Dark Knight, nothing much expected from him since his role is pretty general. Heath Ledger performance as the Joker is the highlight of the show & because of him, this movie has gone from good to best. People keeps on discussing about actor performance in TDK but what truly make this movie a gem was the plot & storyline.

Make it simple, Batman is the good side, Joker's a bad@ss, Harvey Dent is Gotham City, which side will Harvey Dent choose? So, you see, the main point is not about Batman or Joker, it's more to Harvey Dent. Any decision from him will reflect greatly to the outcome of the whole story. Have not seen TDK? Get a DVD or Blu-Ray disc. You won't be dissapointed! Highly Recommended.

2) Cloverfield
Something special for everyone. When I saw the trailer, I thought this is gonna to be another Godzilla movie. Indeed it is, but it's a 3rd person shooting style, like you playing Counter Strike. When most of the people don't give a shit bout this movie, I found it to be pretty awesome. I watched this in a cinema, inside 30 minutes or so, I seen people going in & out, maybe they feel dizzy.

I've to say the plot for this is weak. Monsters coming out of nowhere, engaging with militaries, but this movie does have a few good points. It make us audience to feel what it likes to be inside the movie ourself. Also, this movie has many unpredictable things as well as the ending. It's a + for me. While I quite like this movie, I won't recommended it to everyone since not many can watch & enjoy this one. Watch it if you're looking for something different. I promise this won't be dissapointing.

3) Iron Man
When it comes to Marvel Movies, it rarely dissapointed. Iron Man really offer us something special since this is a unique super hero movies of all time. I liked how they "make" Tony Stark into an Iron Man. Tony Stark did not built the suit on purpose, he built it so he can escape from the terrorist. A good way to introduce Iron Man to the audience.

Another good point bout this movie is the final showdown between Iron Man & Iron Monger. The fight scene was beautifully done as Iron Man was overpowered by Iron Monger (twice the size of Iron Man) & sometimes you don't need strength to win, all you need is make use of your own brain. A very good super hero movie indeed. Recommended.

4) Wall-E
I seldom watch animated films but I decided to give this a try after all the good reviews I heard. I'm glad I did. This is one awesome movie despite from a almost no dialog film. The animation & graphic was beautifully done & the storyline's top notch.

This one has quite a lot of humor & touching moments. Also, this one is a good educational film. You'll not want to miss this! Highly Recommended!

5) Kung Fu Panda
Another animated film top the list. This one doesn't score as good as TDK & Wall-E but it excels in humor, action scenes & voice actors / actress such as Jack Black & Angelina Jolie.

Kung Fu + Good Animation + Lotsa Humor + Great Fight Scenes

What more could you ask for?

Kung Fu Panda is whole lot better than any other action or comedy-based film in 2008.

Highly Recommended!!! Especially if you have kids!!!

Most Suprising Movie:
I never expected Wall-E to be so great judging from it's trailer. I almost missed a gem for not watching it. Judging from 1st look, most of us will thought, "not another funny animation movie" but it offers a lot more than that.

So folks, if you really haven't watch it, go & get a DVD. It's well worth your money. Also, if you're not watching Wall-E, you're missing something.

Most Dissapointed Movie:

If you read my reviews bout The Spirit earlier, I'm very dissapointed with this movie. I've high expactations after 300, Sin City & Wanted so I thought this movie gonna end the year with a BANG but sadly, it doesn't.

Actually this movie has potential to be one of the best in 2008, but it just need better plot, maybe screen writer, I don't know. Not recommended for those who haven't watch it, save your money instead.

That's all for now & 2008 Anime Review is coming your way as well as Upcoming Movie list...stay tuned!

Ok folks, that's all for now. There's a few more but not much info on it so I'll keep updating this topic from time to time if there's something new. Happy New Year 2009!!!

Have a great year ahead ladies & gentleman!!!

I know I'm late but kinda busy this few days. How was your new year eve? Happy? Lonely? Tiring? Share it here...

Mine was good but everything remain unchanged in life for me (at least for now) except one thing, my age -.-" I'm still poor, still single, still looking for a reason to live & thank GOD, I'm still alive! :D :P

I spent most of my time drinking alcohol & playing UNO with my friends on new year eve. Is that what we supposed to do? I don't know, but it was great neverthenless & I enjoyed it very much. We had a great laugh & our last stop was hanging around McDonald until 4am before back to house & have a great sleep. It was a tiring night but I've a good memories on the last day of 2008! Thanks fellows!
