2009 Winter Anime List (Jan - Feb)

As 2008 coming to an end...Most of us will look forward to something new in life in 2009. One thing I'll surely look into will be the upcoming anime's in 2009. Here's what we got in the Winter (January).

Early January

(Jan 01) Shikabanehime Kuro

Sequel to the first series that aired in Fall 08
Makina Hoshimura is a Skikabane - people who cheat death due to a strong dying wish. With her contractor, she is given the task of hunting and killing other Shikabane who endanger living humans.


(Jan 03) Maria-sama ga Miteru 4th Season
Maria-sama ga Miteru summary:
Yumi attends Lillian School For Girls, an exclusive all girl’s catholic school, and is the soeur or “little sister” of Sachiko. As a member of the Roses, the school’s student council, Yumi discovers both her own relationship with Sachiko and the relationships of other Soeurs.

(Jan 03) Akikan!
Kakeru Daichi buys a can of melon juice soda from a vending machine, which then suddenly transforms into a girl that he nicknames “Melon”. Other “Akikan” (”empty can”) girls appear, however the need to be infused with carbon dioxide from kissing to survive.

Toya Fuji, a college student is dating a rising idol singer name Yuki Morikawa. There are numerous challenges to the couple’s relationship from the other people at Fuji’s college, Morikawa’s work, and elsewhere.

A sophomore named Kanako enrolls in all-girls school due to her phobia of men, and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a sadistic cross-dressing boy.

The third season of Minami-ke.

(Jan 05) Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
Sequel to the first series that aired in Summer 08
Natsume is the grandson of Natsume Reiko, a lonely girl who used her “Book of Friends” to bind the spirits who lived around her. Natsume decides to undo the problems she caused the local spirits.

(Jan 06) Viper’s Creed
The story revolves around the member of a private military company (PMC), and the uneasy tension between them and the regular military after a war that caused massive environmental destruction.

(Jan 06) Hajime no Ippo New Challenger
Ippo, a timid highschooler, is one day saved from being beaten up by Takamura, a boxer. Enthralled by Takamura’s skills Ippo begins to learn boxing, soon finding love for the sport and a drive to challenge the boxing world.

(Jan 08) Asu no Yoichi
A boy swordsman, Yoichi and his father stays in mountain training for his descent from the mountain. Yoichi comes to the city to lodge and stay with 4 beautiful sisters. A new more severe “training” regiment awaits him.

(Jan 08) The Tower of Druaga ~the Sword of Uruk~
Sequel to the first series that aired in Spring 08
Jil embarks on a quest with his companions for a fabled and powerful rtifact rumored to be in the highest floor of the Tower of Druaga. However, other competitors, including the kingdom of Uruk itself, want the treasure for their own reason.

A game programmer named Keita is caught up in a battle with Kuro - a guardian of the coexistence equilibrium. Kuro saves keita’s life and regenerates the arm that Keita loses after their first meeting.

Sequel to the first series that aired in Summer 08
Federation investigator Birdy accidentally kills a boy called Senkawa during a mission on Earth. To save his life, their bodies are fused and the two must continue Birdy’s work together

The anime is based on Takuya Mitsuda’s long-running manga about a young pitcher who aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps into the major league.

(Jan 10) Kemono no Souja Erin
After Erin’s mother, a veterinarian, is executed for allegedly killing a batch of fighting snakes, she is raised by a beekeep and meets the king of the animals in the mountains. She is inspired to become a veterinarian herself, a decision that will put the fate of the kingdom in her hands. From the same author as Seirei no Moribito.

In the distant future, humanity lives in isolated mobile cities called Regios - such as Czerni, a self-contained school. Reifon Aruseifu enrolls and joins the 17th Martial Arts Studies Unit led by the third-year student Nina Anto-ku and embarks on series of adventures.

Slayers Revolutions summary:

(Jan 15) Genji Monogatari Sennenki

That's all for now. I bet there's still some series & OVA's that I missed out. Will try to update them here A.S.A.P but at least I think I've covered up most of the January one. As for February, well that's 1 more month to go. See anything you like? Which one is in your watchlist? I've a quite a few really...

1) Shikabanehime: Kuro
- I've been following the 1st season, Shikabanehime: Aka, so will definately watching this as well.

2) Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo
- Not much info till now but this one looks good to me. Afterall, it's SunRise (Gundam 00 & Code Geass) so will give it a try.

3) Viper's Creed
- Reason for watching this? Director of Appleseed, & Blassreiter alike, & I like Blassreiter. Enough said! Looks like this one have big potential.

4) Asu no Yoichi
- I like the character design in this & looks like it'll have a decent amount of fanservice. Me like!

5) Kurokami
- Not really a MUST watch for me but will give it a try.

6) Koukaku no Regios
- I've seen the trailer elsewhere & I must say this one kickass judging by its trailer. This one have potential to be the BEST in January besides Viper's Creed. Will try to find & upload the trailer.

7) Ride Back
- Mecha & anti-government? Sounds like Gundam-00. Will watch this.

This 7 show will definately in my watch & download list but may drop a few depending how the story goes. 2009 is sure a good (for anime at least) & busy year since I already planning to follow 7 animes! & that's only for January...February is coming too!!!

Movie Reviews - The Spirit

I wouldn't call this the worst movie ever but most dissapointing movie instead since I've high expactation from this one after the success of Sin City, 300 & Wanted. From the look at the trailer & promo pics, this is gonna be a HIT action movie but I was wrong. This is nothing but a plain dumb@ass humor movie. Ok, I've to admit some of the humor was great & the whole cinema audience had a great laugh but if only they could cut off unnecessary talking scenes & replace them with some great action scenes, this is gonna be a great movie. I don't mind if a movie talks a lot with a great plot. Look at the Dark Knight, the movie pretty long-winded too but what a success. What really kill this movie is not the talking nor the less of action, but the plot is weak. Despite the heavy cast (Samuel L Jackson, Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson & etc), this movie failed completely with its weak plot.

Pro:
Heavy Cast. Bunch of famous stars but the movie was meh. Also, I liked most of the humors in the film. It was very good executed indeed.

Cons:
Less action, weak plot & the Hero, yeah I mean The Spirit looks like a pussy.

K's Advice:
Not Recommended. Again, watch it only if it's a MUST (for wateva reason).

Movies Reviews - Disaster Movie

Comments:
I just feel like being cheated 1 hour 30 minutes in my life! The worst comedy movie ever made! A comedy that I laughed not more than 5 times in total. I can see they're trying very hard to make me (us) laugh but unfortunately it doesn't work & the only part that I LOL was they singing in the beginning & the guy fighting with the kungfu panda. I just yawn at the rest of the movie. I would give it a 0 score if Kim Kardashian wasn't there. It's truly disaster!!! Lucky it's a free DVD.

Pro:
Kim Kardashian. If not because of her I already stop watching after 10 or 15 minutes. She's way too HOT to keep me watching eventough she lasted less than 45 minutes in the movie.

Cons:
A LOT which I don't even bothered to mention. A funny movie that doesn't funny & the chicks aren't HOT besides Kim Kardashian.

K's Advice:
Don't even bothered wasting your time buying DVD / downloading it. It's total crap. Watch it at your own risk if this kind of movie is a MUST watch for you or you're a simply a fan of Kim Kardashian (or whoever you like in the movie) like I do.

HT Joker Bank Robber Ver (pics & small review)

For those who's unfarmiliar with HT (HotToys), please take a look at this.

Ever since I watched Dark Knight back in September, it really leave a deep impression in me especially Joker & I guess no one will oppose as I declare it's almost the best movie of 2008 so far & Heath Ledger (R.I.P) was even better. As HT annouced that they're going to produce Joker, I knew it's hard for me to resist. As soon as the PO (pre-order) open I PO it straight away without even think twice & I can say I'm super happy now even this figure cost me an arm & a leg. This also marks a new chapter in the beginning of my 12 -inch toys collection. This is too good not so share with you all & afterall sharing is caring (poisoning)

Just a random thoughts. For those who watched Kamen Rider Blade before, henshin! Haha!

Sculpt:
Top Notch as expected from HT & Yuuli. Especially the newly sculpted head. It's way better than the 1st one.

Accessories:
Grenades, Cards, Pistol, Machine Gun, Mask, Bag, Money & etc. Again, with so many accs, you'll never bored with the same old pose.

Summary:
It's a masterpiece collector's item even for not a toy collector or Dark Knight fans. Despite it steep price, it's well worth it. You pay for what you get! Sorry for the not-so-good quality photos thou, as I'm using a 2.0 phone camera & I'm no professional photographer!

Merry X'mas & Happy New Year (2009)

Greetings! I wish you all a Merry X'mas & Happy New Year (2009)!!! whether you're celebrating it or not. Since the global economy breakdown, many ppl have been spending less & tightening their belt hence making festive season less happening compared to last time. Anyway, I do believe you can have a very good festive day without spending much as long as you have some relatives & good friends coming over, playing games, eating turkey's & having some chit-chat rite?

How do you celebrate X'mas & New Year this year? I'll probably going to church as I'm a christian myself. As for new year, might hang out wif a couple of friends as I'm not the clubbing type guy. How bout you?

And.. did you get any (early) X'mas present this year? It's okay whether it's from your loved ones or from yourself. I did receive a pendant last week from a friend from Singapore, & it was a nice one. It's Resident Evil Degenaration merchandise & she suggested that I'll probably like it & I do since I'm quite a fan for Bio Hazard (Resident Evil).
